In December 2016, I was blessed with “Cats in Space!” aka the opportunity to Production Design this cat-tastic commercial for Syfy’s space epic series, The Expanse. All Ages Productions was asked to make a video to recap the events of the show’s first season to prepare fans for its second, and who better to star in it than CATS!
As production designer, I strategized ways to transform the show’s locations into quirky cat-inspired sets, such as litter-box Mars and a cat-condo space station. I worked with Art Director Allison Boegemann, cardboard construction master Jason Hsu, and fabricators Elliott Lamborn and Ann Dinh. The cats’ intricate costumes were designed and constructed by the fabulous Carrie Collins and Tran Ngyuen.
The commercial was directed by Ted Passon and produced by All Ages Productions. I also color corrected the video.
